KRIS SMITH JOINS FOXTEL
TO HOST FOOTBALL SUPERSTAR

The third season of FOX8’s breakout hit Australian reality series, Football Superstar, will be hosted by Chadwick's very own Kris Smith.

An ex-professional Rugby player, Kris says "...it’s a real honour to be able to use the knowledge and motivational skills that I have learnt over the years and impart some of that to a new generation of hungry young players.

“Growing up in the UK, I have soccer in my blood, and while I made a professional choice to play rugby league, I played football as a youngster and am a huge fan of the world game, supporting my beloved Manchester United whom I follow religiously.”

The former Leeds star began his fulltime professional career at just 14, playing for a number of high profile UK clubs before going on to represent Great Britain against France in 1997. A trained physical education teacher, persistent injuries forced him to retire in 2008, when he embarked on a new career in modelling. Kris was contracted as the mens face of Myer at the start of last year and his star continues to rise!

Football Superstar will give 15 young sporting hopefuls the opportunity to hone their skills with expert coaching from former Australian Youth team coach Ange Postecoglou. Principal production commences next month when the finalists, selected during a national tryout tour, are gathered in Brisbane.

In the course of the eight episode series, players will be assessed and eliminated until there is one ultimate winner – a ‘Football Superstar’ who lands the dream career opportunity of a contract with Brisbane Roar and a one year University of Queensland scholarship.



Football Superstar, premieres exclusively on FOX8 in June 2010.

If you are going to host your first Rosemount Australian Fashion Week show, you better make it memorable.

While Perth label ael'kemi is known for its elegant glamour and long flowing gowns the collection set to be unveiled on May 6 in Sydney will reveal a much more sexy style.

"It's based around Sophia Loren, she's our muse for this season," designer Alvin Fernandez said.

"It's very Italian cinema, very dramatic."

He said it was time to do a standalone RAFW show, having knocked back several invitations to do one in the past.

"The ael'kemi woman is going to be more sexy, with a bit more leg showing," he said.

"Everything is short, and we have concentrated on the dress."

The new silhouette featured more volume, ruffles, corsetry and had been described as fierce.

"It's such a different look," Fernandez said.

"It's still true to what we believe in but the feel of the collection is a different direction for us, which is great."

Hot new Perth model Nicole Harrison from Chadwick's Models would walk in the show and is essentially the face of the collection.

Top Perth girls Greta Chesterman and Emily Cattermole will also be part of the sexy show.

"Our first show is very exciting," Fernandez said.

"But we're nervous at the same time. We are ready to show the Australian industry as a whole what we are all about. I think it's just satisfying to know that while our retail side is going great we are still moving forward."

Tammin!

Tammin Sursok is going from strength to strength in LA. With back to back roles singing and dancing in the lead of Disney's Spectacular and the big budget Flicka , she will now play Miley Cyrus' nemesis in the hit show Hannah Montana. Tammin recently appeared in a seductive editorial spread for Cosmopolitan while back in Australia earlier in the year.

Kris Smith will soon co-host the third series of hit Foxtel show Football Superstar. Busy boy, Kris continues in his role as the men’s face of fashion for Myer and is looking forward to his new role as father with partner Dannii Minogue.

Perth’s hottest models are buffing their bodies in preparation for Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

The West Australian contingent set to participate in catwalk shows is big, with Perth girls in demand.

Chadwick’s model Greta Chesterman said she estimated 40 per cent of the Australian models that took part last year were Western Australian, and it was likely the same sort of numbers would take part in the glamorous event this year.

Many WA girls were now based in Sydney, but still represented the growing fascination with Perth models at the event.

“There is a whole clan of Perth girls that have moved over to Sydney and live in Bondi now,” she said.

Last year Chesterman walked in 12 shows, including Dion Lee, Auerlio Costarella, camilla & marc and Manning Cartell.

While the end result of all the planning and backstage anxiety was always glamorous, Chesterman, on her way back from a casting at Vogue, said participating in RAFW could be stressful.

“A lot of girls think you just rock up there and do the show and it’s all glamorous and fun,” she said.

“To be honest, it’s a lot of waiting around, and a lot of not knowing much about what’s going on, there’s a lot of uncertainty.

“The month leading up to fashion week is very intense for models and designers, stylists and production companies. Everyone is working very hard to put their show together.”

While castings are not yet set in stone, there are plenty of West Australian models looking very likely to get a guernsey. West Australian designers including Ray Costarella of Aurelio Costarella and Alvin Fernandez of ae'lkemi both like to use local talent in their shows.

Chadwick’s Models boss Tanya Muia said models including Paris Fontana, Chloe Gelmi, Bronx Whitehorn and new model on the scene Nicole Harrison looked likely to star in parades.

“Fledgling Chadwick model Nicole Harrison has hit the ground running,” she said.

“At just 16, the sultry dark-haired beauty is classically beautiful with a curvy killer body to match.”

Chadwick Model Lucy McIntosh is a host for FASHION TV OCEANIA and is seen in the living rooms of over 40 million people around the world.
